Build Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder!

March 25, 2008 By: admin Category: better future, free advice, fun and entertainment, hobby land No Comments →

Most gardening or hardware stores will have different feeders…

The first thing you are likely to notice when you go shopping for one of these for your backyard is how wide the selection is. This is particularly true in the spring and summer months when everyone is out buying outdoor accessories for their homes. Most gardening or hardware stores will have different feeders including a squirrel proof bird feeder or two to choose from. The type you buy will depend on several factors including price and where you will be mounting or hanging it.

Having a feeder filled with seeds is wonderful for the area birds…

Enjoying the wonder of nature is something most of us don’t do enough of. If you are fortunate enough to live in an area where birds, chipmunks and squirrels abound, it’s lovely to sit out in the backyard and just absorb all that nature has to offer by watching the wildlife. Having a feeder filled with seeds is wonderful for the area birds, but can become a haven for the squirrels that frequent the neighborhood. With a squirrel proof bird feeder you can provide feed for the birds without having to worry about the squirrels interfering.

Don’t be surprised if neighbors ask where you got it…

Once you’ve taken on the task and completed one for your own backyard don’t be surprised if neighbors or visitors ask where you got the squirrel proof bird feeder. It’s rare for a skilled handyman not to have compliments on his or her work. You may even find yourself building a feeder for others as well.

Making a squirrel proof bird feeder is a bit of a challenge…

Home handymen might want to take on a project like this. Building small items is a fun and interesting hobby for both men and women and after a long week in an office, getting the chance to make something with their own hands is very rewarding and relaxing. Making a squirrel proof bird feeder is a bit of a challenge but if you’ve got the skill and the patience, it most certainly can be done.

Don’t worry about them going hungry….

Regardless of where you do put it be prepared to watch the squirrels try with all their might to get to the feed. They are persistent little creatures and it will take them awhile before they finally realize that it’s a futile endeavor. Don’t worry about them going hungry though because those resourceful little animals always find something to eat.

Hanging it from a tree might be the best idea…

Mounting them isn’t difficult at all. You first must decide on a spot to put the feeder. Depending on the size and shape of it, hanging it from a tree might be the best idea. Others find it better if they attach the squirrel proof bird feeder to the fence. Just be sure you pick a spot that is easily accessible for the birds.

Chinese Fortune Cookies, Ode to Delicious

March 24, 2008 By: admin Category: fun and entertainment, good gift ideas, hobby land No Comments →

A perfect end to a perfect evening…

Chinese fortune cookies seemed like a perfect end to a perfect evening. There is something so satisfying about them. The Chinese fortune cookie was small enough that, even if you had gorged yourself on dinner, you still would have a little bit of room for it. It wasn’t especially delicious, but it was good, and the fortune made it that much better. Your Chinese fortune
cookie would never have something bad to say to you. Sometimes, it would be a little bit disappointing, but it would never tell you that, for example, you were going to die. At other times, the fortune cookie messages seemed oddly prescient. At any rate, it was all in good fun, and much tastier than an astrology reading!

We all love Chinese fortune cookies…

Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved Chinese fortune cookies. I think it has as much to do with the associations I have with them as with their actual flavor. I used to love going to the Chinese restaurant with my parents. I loved everything about it. I loved the little ornamental lamps and Buddhist statues around the place, I loved the murals with dragons and warriors on them, but most of all I loved the food. I loved everything – cashew chicken, almond boneless chicken, sweet and sour pork – if it was on the Chinese restaurant menu, I would eat it.

It is very easy and fun…

One of my friends showed me a make your own Chinese fortune cookies website, and for my next project I am going to try it. I looked at the recipe, and I was amazed at how easy it is. I had assumed it would be difficult, since somehow you have to bake the cookies and get the fortunes inside. It doesn’t look like it is going to be nearly as hard as I had anticipated, and I’m looking forward to serving the results up to some of my good friends. footage from the Beatles Candlestick Park event. If it had happened today, it probably would have been a carefully marketed event with the entire concert, captured for posterity

You can get your own personalized fortune cookies printed to give as presents to your friends and family

What I didn’t realize until later was the variety of Chinese fortune cookies that actually existed. As an adult, I have occasionally found Chinese cookies in restaurants to be disappointing. At times they are stale, and at other times they are mediocre at best. Looking around, however, you can easily find a wide variety of alternatives. You can get chocolate dipped fortune cookies, for example. You can get your own personalized fortune cookies printed to give as presents to your friends and family. I have even come across one website that sells giant fortune cookies. It is enough to get even the most jaded and cynical of consumers excited about Chinese food again!

Miniature Fruit Trees Are A Good Design Element!

March 17, 2008 By: admin Category: free advice, fun and entertainment, hobby land, home improvement No Comments →

Bonsai – The Smallest fruit trees!

Many people with small yards feel that they are limited in what they can plant, however with the development of miniature trees, now even the smallest yard can have a wide variety of trees and plants. A new favorite among home owners of compact yard are miniature fruit trees. These trees are developed to take up much less space than traditional fruit bearing trees. The miniature fruit trees have a shorter height at maturity and have more compact branches. They still have beautiful blossoms in the spring of the year and produce edible fruit. Another advantage is that many of the miniature fruit trees are self pollinating so if you only have room for one tree it can still bear fruit.

Everyone likes to have a nice looking yard.

It seems that each spring home owners are looking for new ways to spruce up their landscaping. Everyone likes to have a nice looking yard. There are many trends now to help people extend their living space into the outdoors. This is done through outdoor furniture, planters, rock gardens and creating separate areas in the yard. Even small yards can be arranged to create useful welcoming spaces.

Breaking up the yard into zones!

The fruit is more abundant every other year, but they did have apples the second year they planted the trees. To the north side of the deck they have created a small rock garden with perennials that do well in the shade. These lush green plants are a nice contrast to the color of the annuals in the pots on the deck. On the small south side area they have created a fire ring surrounded by two benches and two chairs. The over all effect is a welcoming space with plenty of seating. By breaking up the yard into zones they have utilized all the space they have, without making the space look cluttered. It gives the home a great deal of curb appeal

The idea for yard designing - an example!

One of my favorite yards in our neighborhood has a small lot, yet the owners have created a wonderful space for their family to enjoy. They have built a small deck in the front of the house and have a patio table and chairs on the deck. They have also placed planters with bright colored annuals to give the space a welcoming appearance. On either side of the deck they have planted miniature fruit trees. They chose apple trees that have pale pink flowers in the spring and medium size apples in early fall. The owner told me that the trees are very hardy and resistant to most blight so they do not have to spray them.

Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, Great Stuff!

March 17, 2008 By: admin Category: fun and entertainment, hobby land No Comments →

The fantasy online games are most popular!

The most popular massively multiplayer online role playing games – at least the one to get the most press – are the fantasy online games. World of Warcraft, of course, is the first one that comes to everyone’s lips. It was probably the first successful massive online role playing game,
and it continues to be the most successful one. Warhammer online is expected to be the next great thing, and it should be a great competition to see which one comes out ahead.

You need to have a lot of time!

Massively multiplayer online role playing games are not something to start when you don’t have a lot of time. I know many people who naďvely began a massively multiplayer online role playing game as a way to take a break during writing a thesis, carrying out a project for an employer, or some other long and dedicated project. Almost all of them ended up finishing a late. If you are only just playing your first online MMORPG, don’t start until you have the time to dedicate to it. They are so addictive that you should expect to get very little done in the first week.

Combat aspect of the game!

Of course, there are massively multiplayer online role playing games that de-emphasize the combat aspect. A lot of online strategy role playing games actually don’t have any arcade combat at all. Basically, you do your best to build up your cities, make allies, attack your foes, and trade with other people to get the best strategic position. All wars are fought without any arcade playing action. For people whose main interest is strategy, these can be great games. There are a surprising number of people who don’t want to be bothered with online combat. Another great thing about these games is that they don’t require high-quality graphics cards or a fast computer in general.

Massively multiplayer online role playing games are addictive

Nonetheless, massively multiplayer online role playing games are worth it. Simply put, they are addictive because they are compelling. They combine the best features of arcade games, strategy games, online interactions, And real-world politicking into one seamless universe. There are dozens of them, including free games, so whatever your interests are, you’ll find something that meets them.

The key is to find out what works for you!

Nonetheless, there is something to be said for massively multiplayer online role playing games that involve real combat. If nothing else, it increases the immersive aspect of the games without completely sacrificing the strategic aspect. The key is to find out what works for you. Try out a few different games before you make up your mind.

Choose your (own) adventure book

February 15, 2008 By: admin Category: free advice, fun and entertainment, hobby land No Comments →

The company decide to republish them

I’m glad that the company decide to republish them. In my opinion, good children’s books are timeless. Sure, people get fascinated with new technologies and flashier special effects, but a good book will always have a place in a child’s heart. Choose your own adventure books – and good books in general – have an element of transport in them that doesn’t translate well to any other medium. Movies take you away, but as soon as the screen goes blank, it’s all over. Books stick with you for years to come. By allowing kids to participate in the action of the story, the
choose your own adventures have provided a brilliant way to make reading enjoyable and attractive to even the most jaded child.

When we ware kids we all probably loved them!

Do you remember choose your own adventure books? When I was a kid, I used to love them. At a certain age, they could really immerse me in the story more than any other books I had read up to that point. The story would take you to a cliffhanger and then give you a variety of different choices. Depending on what choice you made, You would have to flip to a different page. The writing wasn’t sensational, but it was good enough to immerse you in the action. The stakes were always high, and the choices you made could mean the difference between life and death – at least for the main character in the story. Best of all, if things turned out badly for you, you can always start over again at the last cliffhanger and make different choices.

The changes has come!

Lately, however, choose your own adventure books have been making a big resurgence. It’s hard to find the actual original choose your own adventure novels, and for a while they were extremely rare. Nowadays, however, the original series is being republished, and there is rumor of new stories coming out. This could be better news, both for today’s children, and people of my generation who were raised on these books.

The technology goes forward!

Unfortunately, for many years the choose your own adventure book has fallen by the wayside in favor of more sophisticated and advanced forms of technology. Video games are the main culprit of course, but the advances in special effects technology have also caused a big shakeup. Kids are less drawn to action and adventure novels than they used to be. After all, Hollywood can give you such a grand, convincing thrill that it is hard for choose your own adventure books to compete.
