Beautiful And Affordable Native American Turquoise Jewelry

May 11, 2008 By: admin Category: good gift ideas No Comments →

Majority of these products are handmade…

Native American turquoise jewelry may not be as expensive or flashy as diamonds or other precious gems, but that’s part of the charm. I also love the fact that a majority of these products are handmade by people whose families have been involved with the craft for many generations. There’s no question that Native American turquoise jewelry has a certain character that mass-produced items don’t. It makes me proud to be able to wear a necklace that someone spent hours upon hours creating, and this is a great feeling to have.

It’s definitely a lot of fun…

I’ve even started giving Indian jewelry as gifts to my friends and relatives for birthdays, Christmas, and other special occasions. Not many people in my social circle wear these types of pieces, so it’s very rewarding to be able to give such a unique gift. I’m happy to say that many of my friends have come to appreciate the quality craftsmanship and fine designs as much as I do, and are starting to build their own collections now. It’s definitely a lot of fun to show off our latest purchases or temporarily trade items with each other.

These items are widely available online…

Since that time, I try to augment my collection of Native American jewelry whenever I have some extra money to spend. Fortunately, I don’t have to travel all the way to New Mexico or Arizona every time I want to make a purchase. That’s because these items are widely available online from reputable dealers who buy directly from Navajo, Hopi, Pueblo, and Zuni tribes. Due to the low overhead associated with selling on the Internet, these dealers are then able to offer their authentic Native American turquoise jewelry for up to 60 percent off retail prices. That’s fantastic news for budget-conscious shoppers like me!

The souvenir shopping…

I finally had a chance to visit the Grand Canyon during our family vacation last summer. We drove down there, and ended up stopping by lots of cool places in the Southwest. Of course the Grand Canyon was spectacular and breathtaking, but what made that trip memorable for me was all the souvenir shopping we did. I positively fell in love with all the Native American turquoise jewelry that I saw at roadside stands, and ended up purchasing several beautiful pieces as keepsakes. I adore the way these necklaces, bracelets, and pendants look, and I always get so many nice compliments from friends and strangers alike whenever I wear these

Famous Parker Brothers Games

April 23, 2008 By: admin Category: fun and entertainment, good gift ideas No Comments →

Game board that is known all over the world…

The Parker Brothers Monopoly game is not currently my favorite, but it was my first love. If there is any Parker Brothers game board that is known all over the world, it is Monopoly. Families who can’t sit through a TV show together still manage to spend hours playing a single Monopoly game. Sometimes, they go on for days, but people keep at it. Everyone is so determined to make a killing that the game doesn’t stop for hours. Even if you have never played a Monopoly game to completion, you have to admit – it is exciting while it lasts.

Number of Parker Brothers game sets…

Throughout the years, Parker Brothers games have been at the forefront of the board games industry in general. I’m not a person who is particularly conscious of brands, so it took me a while to notice. Nonetheless, when I looked at my boardgame collection, I was struck by the number of Parker Brothers game sets. Monopoly, Risk, my Ouija board, Scrabble, and even my Clue game had all been put out by Parker Brothers. Although not all of them originated with the company, it is still neat to see how much effect one company could have on the boardgame business. Most, if not all, of the classics were made by them.

Adults like it…

Of course, Clue is also a great Parker Brothers game. What is so great about it is that it works for all ages. Adults like it because it is a murder mystery, but the strategy is simple enough for a child to do reasonably well. The fact that it is just a little bit ghoulish only makes it that much more fun to play! All in all, it is a treasure of a game in my opinion. That is why it is still around today.

Risk is so simple, but the strategies involved are so complicated….

Of course, my current favorite Parker Brothers game is Risk. I have been a big fan of strategy board games for a long time. I play them in person and online, but you really can’t beat having a board in front of you and people to talk with. Although the most elaborate strategy games are now on the computer, there is just something about getting all your friends together for a night of global war or world conquest that is pretty appealing. Risk is so simple, but the strategies involved are so complicated. A game can be over in 20 minutes, or it can take three hours. It is all up to you and the way you play.

National Geographic Magazine, Great Educational Resource

April 21, 2008 By: admin Category: books, educational resource, fun and entertainment, good gift ideas No Comments →

Whenever I had a chance I would read the adult version….

I remember one National Geographic magazine article in particular that really stuck with me. My parents bought me a National Geographic for kids, but whenever I had a chance I would read the adult version. This was the first article I ever saw that actually scared me. It was about lemurs – those strange, primitive monkeys with long bony fingers. It contained a local legend. Tribes people said that, if a lemur pointed its finger at you, you would die. Because of their long bony fingers, it is easy to see why this idea started. At the time, I found it frightening and somewhat fascinating. It stuck with me for a long time afterwards.
You can Shop the National Geographic Store. All purchases support research and education.

National Geographic Magazine movies, however, were by far the best….

I used to love National Geographic movies when I was a kid. I loved anything having to do with nature and with strange cultures that I had never been exposed to before. National Geographic Magazine movies, however, were by far the best. They had spectacular scenic vistas, close-ups of wild animals, strange tribal rituals – all the stuff that fascinates children. The only thing that I liked better than the movies was National Geographic magazine proper. I was one of those kids who really loved looking at maps of foreign places and imagining what it would be like to explore them. National Geographic maps were pretty top-notch. They would combine details of the vegetation, political information, topography, and geography all into one seamless whole.

For kids…

Even if things had changed, that article is still a part of a people’s history. You are still seeing a glimpse of history from times gone by.Nowadays, my own child loves to read national graphic magazine. He is a little bit too young for the adult version, but he loves National Geographic for kids. He actually did some research into one for an article about conservation in school recently. He was the one who came up with the idea for the project. I am so proud of him!

The articles didn’t seem to get outdated…

When I got to the age of 15, my dad gave me his collection of National Geographic magazines. He had been an avid reader of the publication ever since he was 15, so he had amassed quite a store of National Geographics. What’s so cool about it was that the articles didn’t seem to get outdated – at least most of them didn’t. You can read a National Geographic magazine article written 20 years ago and, if it was about a remote enough part of the world, assume that not much had changed.

It’s a real page turner and the exciting world of hidden messages and secret societies is brought to life by the narrator, Paul Michael. The benefits of Pilates continue to be recognized…

Regular practice and mastery of the technique stretches, strengthens, and tones muscle, improves posture, flexibility, and balance, and unites mind and body. Almost nine decades later, the benefits of Pilates continue to be recognized by people who want to take a more controlled low-impact approach to fitness.

Joseph Pilates developed these movements…

The Pilates Method was developed by German-born Joseph Pilates in the 1920s by combining mind and body work through a controlled sequence of movement. According to www.pilatesinsights.com, Joseph Pilates developed these movements based on his experiences with yoga, Zen meditation, martial arts, and other fitness techniques. Many dancers soon became avid practitioners and displayed the benefits of Pilates’ method through their fluid movements.

There really is not need to exercise full speed…
iTrain Pilates is here

Pilates movements also reduce stress and tension, increase energy, improve circulation and range of motion, and strengthen the spine improving flexibility, which promotes back health and recovery from injury. The benefits of Pilates matwork emphasizes the point that the body is the only tool needed to achieve physical fitness. There really is not need to exercise full speed ahead and possibly cause injury to your body. The old adage, “no pain no gain” is simply not true. A good work out does not have to leave you exhausted and sore.
Strong, long, and lean body core using deep abdominal muscles…

The benefits of Pilates are many, and through continued patience and dedication, movements can be mastered and the benefits clearly defined. In addition to the benefits of Pilates mentioned above, regular practice of the method builds a strong, long, and lean body core using deep abdominal muscles.

I can attest that you will start feeling more toned after only three sessions, so go ahead and experience the benefits of Pilates for yourself!

The entire body functions better with regular exercise; endorphins are released that improve out mood and outlook on life. Pilates is not just a passing fad, it has been proven to be effective and beneficial to people of all ages. Joseph Pilates also said, “In ten sessions you will feel the difference, and in thirty you’ll have a whole new body.”

Turning the focus toward safer and more sensible forms…

The benefits of Pilates was again resurrected with a resurge in popularity along side yoga, tae chi, meditation, and turning the focus toward safer and more sensible forms of exercise and total body fitness. Joseph Pilates said, “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.” This is another example of the benefits of Pilates; mental and spiritual health gained through controlled mind/body movements that increase blood flow and improve circulation throughout the body.

Meditation, Relaxation and Breathing DVD Trailer

It’s just not always easy to focus our attention on something simple…

There’s a rub though. For many, it is difficult to sit still, focusing attention on breathing in and out. Some of us get distracted easily, or we get achy and itchy. It’s just not always easy to stop, sit still and focus our attention on something simple, like our breath or on a pleasant scene, which are some of the methods suggested for beginners.

Produce the right rhythm….

What to do? One possibility is to join a group that is led by a person who is skilled in leading meditation. Some people know how to produce just the right rhythm and tone in their voice so that those learning meditation can actually focus and begin to enjoy some of the benefits of the practice. Another suggestion is to tell yourself that whatever is going on is OK. Give yourself permission to be a very bad meditator. Sometimes this sort of direction is all a person needs to relax and start to enjoy the process of meditating.

The benefits of meditation….

Meditation has been growing in popularity in the West, and studies have shown that it has many benefits. These include stress reduction, which can lower the chance of high blood pressure, stroke and heart attack; providing a break in the day, thus refreshing the meditator who then has renewed energy and attention to put to whatever tasks may be at hand; interrupting a person’s chronic patterns of thought, some of which are quite negative and not good for overall health and productivity; and bringing a person’s attention more to the present day so that he or she can enjoy what’s happening now more instead of being stuck worrying about past problems. These are just some of the benefits meditation can have.

You never know….

Times for these meditation sessions on CD can range from 10 minutes to an hour. You can work yourself up to the longer sessions gradually. As for the ones that don’t work for you? You can give them away at office holiday sales or sell them at garage sales or on Ebay. The guide whose voice irritates you just might be the one to lead your neighbor to Nirvana.

Quite powerful experience….

Another strategy, which has brought success to many, is to meditate to special music and sounds designed specifically to help you get into a meditative state. Using earphones makes the experience quite powerful. The best thing to do is to get recommendations from friends who’ve used CDs to enhance their meditation. Absent that, you’ll just have to take the plunge and buy a few. Some may be disappointing, but you’re likely to find at least one CD that’s effective for you if you buy three or four of them. Andrew Weil is a good place to begin if you’re looking for a healing CD to listen to.

It’s impossible to cut out certain people…

If you have toxic people in your life, that is, people who make you feel uncomfortable, bad about yourself, lacking in some way, jumpy, sad, essentially too much negative emotion, limit the amount of time you spend with those people, or cut them out of your life. It’s impossible to cut out certain people like beloved family members and co-workers, but you can in these cases, organize your life in such a way that you spend less time with them than you ordinarily would. And when you do have to spend time with a toxic person, schedule some time with a person whom you find uplifting afterward. It will be a positive antitode.
Stop procrastinating…

There are many ways to reduce stress in your life. Here are some suggestions if you find your tendency to worry if affecting the quality of your life mentally, emotionally and physically.
If you have a problem that needs to be taken care of, stop procrastinating and just do what needs to be done. It may be hard to face, but once it’s dealt with the stress in your life will go way down.

Be done with it for the day, and go about living…

Stay away from caffeine. The temporary boost it gives you isn’t worth its cost in added jumpiness and roller coaster energy swings.Start writing down your thoughts in a journal, both everything that worries you and everything you love about your life (that you can think of in one sitting). Then be done with it for the day, and go about living.

It is imperative to do so…

Try positive visualization and affirmations. There are loads of books on the market with instructions on how to use these powerful tools. Many of us run negative stress-producing thoughts without even realizing we’re doing it 24/7. It is possible to replace these with positive thoughts and mental pictures. In fact, it is imperative to do so to reduce stress and living a more rewarding life.

Go for long walks….

Allow yourself a few minutes each day, a very limited time, to worry to the hilt. Exaggerate your fears and negative mental images. Then when your time’s up. Let is go until your next scheduled worry session.Take a break from the media for a while-TV, radio, newspaper, magazines. Read a good, uplifting book instead, and go for long walks. It’s amazing what even just a few days of this can do to improve your frame of mind. You might want to make it permanent.

Each of us is unique….

Get plenty of exercise. Exercise releases endorphins which make you feel good. It’s also very good for your overall health and can often pop you out of a worried state of mind. It’s also very beneficial for people who have depressive tendencies.Try seeing a counselor or hypnotherapist. There’s nothing quite like having the attention of a trained professional, someone who listens well and has some insights and ideas for you to try. Each of us is unique, and good therapists realize this, knowing that what works to reduce stress for one person isn’t going to work for another person. It’s always good to get a helping hand.
