Try A Free Colon Cleanse Recipe For Relief!

July 29, 2008 By: admin Category: fitness and healthy living tips No Comments →

Most people with these symptoms will probably not even consult their doctors with any of these rather ordinary complaints. However, there is a school of thought that posits that every one of these problems may indicate a buildup of toxins in the colon, a simple accumulation of living in modern society. The idea seems worthy of consideration when you consider that there are a number of free colon cleansing recipes available on credible websites.

It’s really no wonder that today’s hectic pace and daily stress takes its toll on all of us. You may have a variety of little complaints that you take with a grain of salt, attributing the cause to too much work. Let’s say you get stress headaches on a fairly regular basis, need to use the killer deodorant to suppress some strong-smelling perspiration and every time you eat pizza, it’s guaranteed heartburn. You also suffer bouts of allergies, per the season.

Most schools of thought in the alternative health field accept that toxicity in the colon may bring on all of these conditions. Some also believe that more serious diseases, such as Chrohn’s and celiac disease, might be aggravated by toxicity of the colon.

The theory used to support colon cleansing as a remedy is that, over a period of years, unhealthy foods and the environment itself, results in the deposit of toxins in the colon and a buildup of what’s been termed, mucoid plaque in the intestines. The presence of these toxins leaves your body at a disadvantage in a number of ways. It’s been suggested that these toxins may be linked to arthritis, psoriases and depression, as well as a long list of common ailments. From bad breath to body aches, a colon cleansing may relieve you.

That free colon cleanse recipe, with an expert’s approval, may make you feel like a million!

If you’ve done some research on your own and discovered a website you find credible, with a free colon cleanse recipe, print it out. Take it to a naturopathic physician or Master Herbalist. These experts can tell you all the particulars, pro and con, for each of the ingredients in the proportions given, as well as the types of ailments these ingredients will help.

There are many free colon cleanse recipes on the net, so how do you know which one might work for you? How do you know that the ingredients given are safe to use?

There are two ingredients which are absolutely safe and effective. The first is psyllium husks which provide the fiber and bulk
your colon requires to effectively sweep the colon free of toxic buildups of waste. Probiotics are the other thoroughly reliable and safe ingredient you should look for in any free colon cleanse recipe you intend to use. Probiotics encourage a flourishing population of the naturally occurring, good bacteria in your digestive system, helping keep your colon clean.

Bacteria And Yogurt Equals Health

July 21, 2008 By: admin Category: fitness and healthy living tips No Comments →

There are both good and bad bacteria. The bacteria contained in yogurt is, as you might have suspected by now, the good kind. Furthermore, not all yogurt contains these good bacteria, called acidophilus. The type of yogurt with fruit already in the carton does not contain acidophilus. Yogurt also is one of the few foods that contain Vitamin K, which helps reestablish the balance of bacteria and aids in proper digestion. Look for the naturally made brands of yogurt which are labeled ‘live culture’ and ‘plain’ flavor. Now, why you would want to forego the sweet fruit in order to obtain bacteria and yogurt?

When you think of yogurt, it’s probably in the context of a healthy, tasty snack or light lunch in your lunchbox. Usually, we like to think there are no bacteria in the food we eat. In the case of the combination of this particular bacteria and yogurt, it’s actually good for you and is a natural remedy for yeast infections.

The bacteria in live culture yogurt acts to restore the correct balance of flora and fauna in your body. How does this balance get out of whack? One way, well known to women, is to take a round of antibiotics, necessary to knock out some infection. The only problem with antibiotics is that they kill off all the bacteria, both good and bad. The result is the hated yeast infection, due to the bad bacteria overwhelming the good. Yeast infections cause some embarassing and uncomfortable symptoms in women’s private areas!

Here’s where the beneficial effects of bacteria and yogurt come into play. Just when you’re ending your round of antibiotics, start eating some live culture yogurt. You want to include it with every meal, if possible. If you enjoy the plain yogurt, use it as is. If not, put some into a smoothie recipe or dress it up with a little fruit in a bowl. Flavor it with pomegranate, cherry juice or Torani(TM) syrups, which come in lots of tasty flavors. Add some shredded coconut or whatever suits your taste.

Physicians are well aware of this syndrome, and the traditional medications to get rid of the yeast infection are messy ointments, suppositories and the like, many of which must be used for about a week before the yeast imbalance is corrected. Any woman will tell you it’s a less than enchanting remedy. As if the many side effects of antibiotics aren’t enough!

If you start this regime right away, you may never even get the dreaded yeast infection. If you do get some symptoms, they’ll be short-lived. The bacteria and yogurt remedy is natural, it works, has no bad side effects, is inexpensive and tastes good. What’s not to like?

Basic Food Groups, Healthy Eating Habits

July 14, 2008 By: admin Category: fitness and healthy living tips No Comments →

If you do not have healthy eating habits, you should take a long look at yourself and your ways of doing things before you decide on a course of action. Many people decide to put up a chart of the basic food groups and immediately trying to do everything perfectly. In reality, this is simply not a very good approach. It is much too difficult, after all, to try to change all of your habits at once. You will get much better results from simply trying to change one thing at a time.

All of us have seen a basic food pyramid at one point or another, but few people really remember the importance of the basic food groups. Healthy nutrition is something that many people just forget about as they grow older. It all looks so simple when you are a kid, but as you get on in years, it can slip away. Few children and fewer adults in modern day America get enough vegetables to eat, and many people of all ages eat unhealthy processed food on a daily basis. In short, things do not bode well for our health as a nation.

Once you have gone a few weeks without all of those unhealthy, processed foods, it is time for you to take a look at the basic food groups. Start with what seems most obvious to you – the area where your eating habits are farthest from healthy. If you eat few to no vegetables, start with that. If you eat enough vegetables, but too much meat, cut down on your meat consumption. Take it one step at a time. Once you get one basic food groups problem under control, try to tackle the next. Eventually, you will get your diet in order. You’ll be eating a healthy blend of all of the essential food groups, and your health will improve. Pat yourself on the back.

Before you start becoming religiously committed to the basic food groups, you should try to cut out fatty and unhealthy foods. Give up chips, sweets, fast food, fatty red meat, and other artificial or high cholesterol foods. After you have been doing that for a while, you can come back to the basic food groups. For most diet beginners, however, there is simply no chance to tackle the food group basics until you have stopped eating the foods that you really shouldn’t have.

Reduction In The Fast Food Calories

July 01, 2008 By: admin Category: fitness and healthy living tips No Comments →

Fast food calories are getting better … umm, that is, reduced!

You’ve heard the stories about people who ate exclusively at fast food places, for months on end, gained an enormous amount of weight and then sued the fast food place for making them fat. It seems that if you opted in for all those fast food calories, you’d notice that your clothes no longer fit. After a couple of wardrobe renewals, most people would catch on. Some apparently didn’t.

Perhaps we owe these few individuals a thank you. The menu makers at the fast food places must have taken note and decided that this sort of publicity wouldn’t play well with other customers. At any rate, now those fast food calories are on the decline. Don’t worry, you can still get most of the fast food calories you want. However, now you’ll also find some recent additions which are a bit more health-conscious.

For starters, most fast food establishments now use a better type of oil for those yummy french fries, so you can consume these tasties with just a shadow of its former guilt quotient.

As for breakfast, there’s an array of new choices for breakfast on the run, with the contents which are either more ‘real’, less fatty or both. A healthy breakfast is certainly better than no breakfast!

Sandwich fare includes roasted chicken, flame-broiled fish and vegan burgers. It’s almost like a sandwich your Mom might fix. You don’t have to fix it, bag it or haul it to work. In addition, you can buy it for less money than it would cost if you make it yourself. What’s not to like?

Lunch and dinner items now can well be described, loosely, as health food. Some of these eateries even use organic ingredients. Salads sport a variety of greens and a choice of dressings, including low fat types. You can order salads with roasted chicken or seafood. Very few fast food calories there. A diet conscious consumer’s dream and quite economical.

As well as a reduction in the fast food calories, a new level of customer service has been added to your visit. During a recent foray to pick up a fast food burger, I was queried by the order taker on the various ingredients. What? I was being allowed to customize my order. “Do you want ketchup? Lettuce? Onion?” The kid went through the entire litany. What shocked me was when he asked if I wanted the burger! I burst out laughing. Couldn’t help myself. “Yes, I do want the burger.”

So, you can still visit your favorite fast food joint and indulge with a little less guilt, or none at all. Besides, if you go alone, who will know?

Pilates Benefits, Video Trailer

The benefits of Pilates continue to be recognized…

Regular practice and mastery of the technique stretches, strengthens, and tones muscle, improves posture, flexibility, and balance, and unites mind and body. Almost nine decades later, the benefits of Pilates continue to be recognized by people who want to take a more controlled low-impact approach to fitness.

Joseph Pilates developed these movements…

The Pilates Method was developed by German-born Joseph Pilates in the 1920s by combining mind and body work through a controlled sequence of movement. According to www.pilatesinsights.com, Joseph Pilates developed these movements based on his experiences with yoga, Zen meditation, martial arts, and other fitness techniques. Many dancers soon became avid practitioners and displayed the benefits of Pilates’ method through their fluid movements.

There really is not need to exercise full speed…
iTrain Pilates is here

Pilates movements also reduce stress and tension, increase energy, improve circulation and range of motion, and strengthen the spine improving flexibility, which promotes back health and recovery from injury. The benefits of Pilates matwork emphasizes the point that the body is the only tool needed to achieve physical fitness. There really is not need to exercise full speed ahead and possibly cause injury to your body. The old adage, “no pain no gain” is simply not true. A good work out does not have to leave you exhausted and sore.
Strong, long, and lean body core using deep abdominal muscles…

The benefits of Pilates are many, and through continued patience and dedication, movements can be mastered and the benefits clearly defined. In addition to the benefits of Pilates mentioned above, regular practice of the method builds a strong, long, and lean body core using deep abdominal muscles.

I can attest that you will start feeling more toned after only three sessions, so go ahead and experience the benefits of Pilates for yourself!

The entire body functions better with regular exercise; endorphins are released that improve out mood and outlook on life. Pilates is not just a passing fad, it has been proven to be effective and beneficial to people of all ages. Joseph Pilates also said, “In ten sessions you will feel the difference, and in thirty you’ll have a whole new body.”

Turning the focus toward safer and more sensible forms…

The benefits of Pilates was again resurrected with a resurge in popularity along side yoga, tae chi, meditation, and turning the focus toward safer and more sensible forms of exercise and total body fitness. Joseph Pilates said, “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.” This is another example of the benefits of Pilates; mental and spiritual health gained through controlled mind/body movements that increase blood flow and improve circulation throughout the body.

Best Weight Loss Tactic, Video Tips

Find out how you can improve your living , loose weight and feel better…
I did a personal food plan and exercise program that combined all of the individual actions that worked…from each of the best weight loss plans I had used over the decades. I shopped at a health food store, so I ate no white flour or white sugar (both of which are chemically processed and create food cravings!). I ate protein, vegetables, and a minimum of whole grain breads at each meal. And I power walked 4.15 miles every day.

What is best is what works for the individual? What is the best weight loss video out there…

Is there really a “best” weight loss system? Is there one that is the fastest? Is there one that is hella cheap and still super effective? Since I have given up on “dieting,” I can only recall the many weight reduction attempts I mad and which of those I would have considered the best weight loss methods. Then again, I wonder if what is best is what works for the individual—and hence the reason we have so many possibilities, so many variations on the same goal.

In other words, it works if you work it!

As they say in another twelve-step program, “Take what you need and leave the rest.” Study and try out what each diet promoter announces is the BEST weight loss plan, but then use what works for you from each one. Yes, it will take months, even years, but it is worth it if you want the best weight loss results FOR YOU.

Music with a perfect, driving, motivating beat…

As for the exercise, yuck, I first tricked myself into getting out there, walking one city block (one-tenth of a mile) and back the first day. The next day, I did two city blocks. The next day after that, three, and so on, until I was not only out there walking for over an hour but waking up in the morning craving the movement, the air, the head rush (or endorphin rush). I also listened to music with a perfect, driving, motivating beat and with lyrics that kept my mind occupied…as for me, exercise was boring because there was nothing to think about, nothing for my brain to feed on when walking around an oval track for instance, or doing repetitive, dull sit ups or whatnot.

Lower Back Pain Relief, Mayo Clinic Video

Tired of being in pain?

So many medications…

This doctor convinced my mother that her lower back pain relief could only come from medications. He had her on so many medications that the new doctor said she was akin to a junkie. Though this hurt my mother’s feelings, he assured her that it was not her fault. When you are in a lot of pain, you will do anything you can for lower back pain relief. He gave her a plan to get off most of her medications, and told her to come back and see him in three months.

More and more uncomfortable…

For the longest time, my mother was in a great amount of pain. Her doctor tried everything he could think of to help her find lower back pain relief. As this went on, my brothers and I became more and more uncomfortable. We wondered why her doctor was not recommending her for surgery when it was apparent that nothing else was going to help. When we finally talked her into seeing another doctor we found out that her current doctor had no intentions of ever sending her for surgery.

Medication for lower back pain…

Since that time, my mother has found lower back pain relief through surgery. She is much better now, and is only on a few medications. She has been more active than she has been in a long time, and the number of times she has to reach for medication for lower back pain relief has dwindled to almost zero. I cry when I think about how much pain my mother was in for so long, and I wish I could find a way to punish her first doctor. I think it’s a shame that such a man could fill my mother with pills without filling her with hope. My only guess would be that he is either highly incompetent, or he was relying on the insurance money each visit produced. In any case, he may want to look the other way the next time he sees me.

Tired of being in pain…

Though coming off some of the lower back pain relief medication her first doctor had prescribed was hard, she did. My mother was tired of being in pain and she wanted to do anything she could to get rid of that pain. The new doctor told her that lower back pain relief was something that a lot of people worry about, and in her case, surgery was the only answer. Many of her vertebrae in her lower back had crumbled, and there was no amount of medication that was going to relieve that pain. If she didn’t get an operation, she would have been in a wheelchair within a matter of five years.

Meditation, Relaxation and Breathing DVD Trailer

It’s just not always easy to focus our attention on something simple…

There’s a rub though. For many, it is difficult to sit still, focusing attention on breathing in and out. Some of us get distracted easily, or we get achy and itchy. It’s just not always easy to stop, sit still and focus our attention on something simple, like our breath or on a pleasant scene, which are some of the methods suggested for beginners.

Produce the right rhythm….

What to do? One possibility is to join a group that is led by a person who is skilled in leading meditation. Some people know how to produce just the right rhythm and tone in their voice so that those learning meditation can actually focus and begin to enjoy some of the benefits of the practice. Another suggestion is to tell yourself that whatever is going on is OK. Give yourself permission to be a very bad meditator. Sometimes this sort of direction is all a person needs to relax and start to enjoy the process of meditating.

The benefits of meditation….

Meditation has been growing in popularity in the West, and studies have shown that it has many benefits. These include stress reduction, which can lower the chance of high blood pressure, stroke and heart attack; providing a break in the day, thus refreshing the meditator who then has renewed energy and attention to put to whatever tasks may be at hand; interrupting a person’s chronic patterns of thought, some of which are quite negative and not good for overall health and productivity; and bringing a person’s attention more to the present day so that he or she can enjoy what’s happening now more instead of being stuck worrying about past problems. These are just some of the benefits meditation can have.

You never know….

Times for these meditation sessions on CD can range from 10 minutes to an hour. You can work yourself up to the longer sessions gradually. As for the ones that don’t work for you? You can give them away at office holiday sales or sell them at garage sales or on Ebay. The guide whose voice irritates you just might be the one to lead your neighbor to Nirvana.

Quite powerful experience….

Another strategy, which has brought success to many, is to meditate to special music and sounds designed specifically to help you get into a meditative state. Using earphones makes the experience quite powerful. The best thing to do is to get recommendations from friends who’ve used CDs to enhance their meditation. Absent that, you’ll just have to take the plunge and buy a few. Some may be disappointing, but you’re likely to find at least one CD that’s effective for you if you buy three or four of them. Andrew Weil is a good place to begin if you’re looking for a healing CD to listen to.
