Aquarius Monthly Horoscope

July 04, 2008 By: admin Category: fun and entertainment

My favorite Aquarius monthly horoscope is actually a column written in the local newspaper. It isn’t a nationally syndicated columnist, and some of his horoscopes are actually not very good. For some reason, however, his Aquarius monthly horoscope always seems to be pretty spot on. I’ve been reading it for years, and have noticed a number of the astounding coincidences. When he tells me that new opportunities are on the way, something important always happens. When he tells me that change is about to enter my life, it does. I’ve never met the Aquarius monthly horoscope writer, but I feel almost as if he knows me personally.

For some reason that I have never been able to fathom, some star signs are more popular than others. Even though there are just as many Cancers as Capricorns, just as many Pisces as Leo’s, and just as many Geminis as Aquarius, for some signs it is just easier to get a good reading than for others. Fortunately, I am an Aquarius. Maybe it has to do with the fact that we’re supposed to be at the beginning of the Aquarian age, but for some reason my sign is extremely popular. There are plenty of good Aquarius monthly horoscopes out there for me to consult.

I actually read multiple horoscopes, but I don’t take all of them seriously. The local news has an Aquarius monthly horoscope that I like, but I also read one on the Internet that I’m not that crazy about. What I like about it is how far off it is. It almost always tells me the opposite of the truth. It is so good at giving bad advice, as a matter of fact, that I can reliably use it to tell me what not to do. I find it endlessly amusing, because it seems so unlikely that someone could be wrong all the time. Still, it’s even more amazing to find a horoscope that is right all the time.

Of course for some purposes, an Aquarius monthly horoscope isn’t sufficient. Sometimes, it makes a lot more sense to get a personal astrological reading. Most Aquarius horoscopes are good to give you a basic idea, but they don’t cover your whole astrological chart. All they discuss is your star sign. Astrology has much more to it than that. If you believe in astrology, you will always get the best reading from a consultation with a qualified psychic. Nonetheless, your horoscope can start you off on the right track.

Attention Deficit Disorder Medication Under Fire

July 03, 2008 By: admin Category: educational resource, useful information

Attention Deficit Disorder medication has been under fire lately. Since many of the patents who have this disorder are children, many parents and professionals are leery about medicating them. However, if carefully planned and administered, Attention Deficit Disorder medication can work wonders for a young person.

The first thing that any parent or adult with ADD wants to do is to express their concerns about whether or not Attention Deficit Disorder medication is appropriate for their situation. This kind of prescription is not the best treatment for every person that has the disorder. There are some considerations to make.

This is especially true when it comes to children. Medicating a child can be very tricky because the child is still growing. Making sure that the Attention Deficit Disorder medication is in the proper dose for the child’s weight can pose some challenges considering that the child is continually growing.

If the Attention Deficit Disorder medication is not in the proper dose, then there can be some behavior problems that go above and beyond the initial inattention and potential hyperactivity associated with the disorder. Some parents and adults with ADD complain that the condition seems to worsen after they begin administering the Attention Deficit Disorder medication.

This doesn’t mean that these individuals should completely forgo taking anything for their conditions. It may take a little time to get the proper dose at the most beneficial levels for the individual. The Attention Deficit Disorder medication can help but it may take some time before the appropriate dose is determined.

The dose may change over time as well. A child may do very well on an Attention Deficit Disorder medication for a few months, and then regress. The regression may be due to a growth spurt and the dose needs to be reevaluated and adjusted to the child’s specific needs.

As with any other medicine, this treatment approach will require attention and continual evaluation. The Attention Deficit Disorder medication available today isn’t a cure-all but it can really benefit some patients. With monitoring and evaluation this treatment approach can provide relief from the symptoms of ADD.

Not every patient requires medication. Other interventions and treatments may be all that is required for many patients but some need more help than these approaches can offer. With close monitoring and consistency, Attention Deficit Disorder medication can help children and adults with ADD function very well.

Reduction In The Fast Food Calories

July 01, 2008 By: admin Category: fitness and healthy living tips

Fast food calories are getting better … umm, that is, reduced!

You’ve heard the stories about people who ate exclusively at fast food places, for months on end, gained an enormous amount of weight and then sued the fast food place for making them fat. It seems that if you opted in for all those fast food calories, you’d notice that your clothes no longer fit. After a couple of wardrobe renewals, most people would catch on. Some apparently didn’t.

Perhaps we owe these few individuals a thank you. The menu makers at the fast food places must have taken note and decided that this sort of publicity wouldn’t play well with other customers. At any rate, now those fast food calories are on the decline. Don’t worry, you can still get most of the fast food calories you want. However, now you’ll also find some recent additions which are a bit more health-conscious.

For starters, most fast food establishments now use a better type of oil for those yummy french fries, so you can consume these tasties with just a shadow of its former guilt quotient.

As for breakfast, there’s an array of new choices for breakfast on the run, with the contents which are either more ‘real’, less fatty or both. A healthy breakfast is certainly better than no breakfast!

Sandwich fare includes roasted chicken, flame-broiled fish and vegan burgers. It’s almost like a sandwich your Mom might fix. You don’t have to fix it, bag it or haul it to work. In addition, you can buy it for less money than it would cost if you make it yourself. What’s not to like?

Lunch and dinner items now can well be described, loosely, as health food. Some of these eateries even use organic ingredients. Salads sport a variety of greens and a choice of dressings, including low fat types. You can order salads with roasted chicken or seafood. Very few fast food calories there. A diet conscious consumer’s dream and quite economical.

As well as a reduction in the fast food calories, a new level of customer service has been added to your visit. During a recent foray to pick up a fast food burger, I was queried by the order taker on the various ingredients. What? I was being allowed to customize my order. “Do you want ketchup? Lettuce? Onion?” The kid went through the entire litany. What shocked me was when he asked if I wanted the burger! I burst out laughing. Couldn’t help myself. “Yes, I do want the burger.”

So, you can still visit your favorite fast food joint and indulge with a little less guilt, or none at all. Besides, if you go alone, who will know?

What Is Your Definition Of Education?

June 25, 2008 By: admin Category: education

Developing knowledge is a start

Education standards in the United States have taken a turn for the worse in recent decades. Curriculums have steadily become diluted, to the point where our young people can graduate from high school without being able to balance a checkbook or find New York City on a map. Fully 25% of the American population is now considered to be functionally illiterate. This is a national disgrace.

It’s difficult to understand how, with the passage of years and the huge inroads technology has made possible, we now have kids going through school by rote, with the only ambition being to get out of the educational system. Perhaps this new definition of education is to blame. Our government has successfully ‘dumbed down’ education to the point where kids are not thirsting for knowledge, but just trying to pass a Federally mandated test in order to pass to the next grade.

Just forty years ago, not every high schooler planned to go on to college. A high school diploma was sufficient to attain a middle class existence, with a good job where you could work your way up with the expectation of realizing the ‘American dream’. Those who did have college plans were anxious to attend what was then known as a ‘college prep’ high school, with higher course requirements and a greater diversity of knowledge. College prep high school curriculums required four years of English, math and science, plus two years of a foreign language, as well as art and humanities. The definition of education was measured in the breadth of knowledge imparted and a well-rounded development of knowledge.

Kids today view high school as a way to pass time, without comprehending how a lack of education will impact their lives forever. Here in the 21st century, a high school diploma just won’t cut it. A kid with a high school diploma will not enjoy the benefits, or realize the ‘American dream’. It’s high time we nail down the definition of education.

The onus for imparting the true definition of education lies on us, the parents. We need to encourage our kids to pursue every avenue of knowledge that will broaden their understanding and pique their curiosity. While the schools are under pressure to teach those subjects which will provide Federal funding, we parents need to do more. Is your child a natural linguist? An artist or musician? These talents are generally ignored and unfunded. We need to change this myopic approach to the definition of education. Nurturing natural talent is what will ultimately improve our world.

Until the public school system in America is revamped, parents need to give their kids reasons to develop knowledge in every area. Home schooled kids often enjoy a greater respect for knowledge, because they are not hindered by curriculums and budget cuts which exclude a vast number of topics of interest.

Ancient World Map

June 24, 2008 By: admin Category: educational resource, useful information

For decades people have been using maps as sophisticated decorations. An ancient world map can be placed inside a beautiful wood frame and hung on the wall, or put on an office desk depending on its size.

Many people collect all types of maps as a hobby, and this has led retailers to start printing them on all sorts of products. You can buy a necktie that depicts an ancient world map, as well as footstools depicting the same image. Other products featuring images of an ancient world map include calendars, desk mats, wall hangings, blankets, rugs, framed art, clocks, watches, wallpaper, stationary and much, much more.

While some people are satisfied to just own a little something having to do with an ancient world map, there are others who consider themselves full-time collectors, whom spend thousands of dollars at auctions to purchase rare maps from hundreds of years ago.

There are many auction houses, as well as online auction sites that cater specifically to those interested in owning an ancient world map. At a recent online auction, $11,000 was paid for an ancient world map dating back to 1640. This particular map depicted the Seven Wonders of the World, the sun and moon, the five known planets of that time period, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Pyramids, and the lighthouse at Alexandria. The text of the map was in the German language.

Although most of us don’t have the resources to purchase such a treasure you can find a replica of an ancient world map in several places. I’d suggest foregoing the world class auction houses in favor of a local antique shop. Although they aren’t likely to have an original ancient world map they may have several likenesses which will look great in either your home or office.

The Internet seems to be one of the best places to locate hard to find items and this isn’t an exception. After doing a quick search for available maps you’ll find several choices. If the company is reputable and shipping charges aren’t astronomical this can be a wonderful approach to finding an ancient world map.

If you are looking for a way to add some life to a dull room, why not try an ancient world map? Not only will it bring a bit of life to a boring space, but you may also be surprised just how much you can learn by studying it.

You’ll also be creating an interest in history in your children. When one of these maps is displayed prominently in your home, your children are bound to ask you to explain it to them.

You Had A Motorcycle Accident And Need An Attorney?

June 23, 2008 By: admin Category: free advice, useful information

It turns out that things could have been worse. I think I painted things in stark colors because I have an overdeveloped sense of right and wrong. Things are not always that simple in this world. As a motorcycle accident attorney, I am still part of a justice system that I very much respect. If motorcycle accident attorneys sometimes take things to excess, it is the responsibility of the legislation to do something about it. We serve our function admirably.

No matter how much people complain about personal injury lawyers, they will always call on one if they are injured themselves. Granted, not everything turned out how I would have liked. Nonetheless, no one’s life does. I am just happy to be able to have a loving wife, two beautiful children, and a huge amount of money from my practice as a motorcycle accident attorney.

I did not set out to be a motorcycle accident attorney. When I began my law practice, I actually had some very high aspirations. Personal injury law was never on the docket. I actually hated personal injury lawyers. You see, I have learned about what they have done to the justice system. The dockets are hopelessly filled with auto accident cases, slip and fall lawyer lawsuits, and the like. They really abused the system, and it has caused a great deal of harm to how justice is done in America.

Motorcycle accident attorneys, I thought at the time, were some of the worst. A motorcycle accident attorney basically takes a situation where the client is often at fault, and finds ways to get a jury to award them millions of dollars based on sympathy. When you ride a motorcycle, you are taking some serious risks. Basically, you are putting yourself in a situation where you are completely exposed to the elements. Even a minor motorcycle crash can often be fatal. At the very least, most cases tried by a motorcycle accident attorney result in some degree of paralysis. Being a motorcycle accident attorney was no way to change things. I wanted to change things.

Nonetheless, you are dependent on the will of the voters in this country. Perhaps it is sad, but it is also true. I could not make it to the position of District Attorney, and I was getting tired of only making a prosecutor’s salary. My law school debts were still unpaid, so with heavy heart I resigned myself to my fate as a motorcycle accident attorney.

Good Example Of Customer Service That Spell Success

June 23, 2008 By: admin Category: business information, free advice, useful information

All of your customers are individuals. Even if that person is representing a corporation, that individual is looking for personal service. You may delegate customer service to staff members, depending on the size of your business or you may personally interface with your customers. In either case, your customer must feel that they’re dealing with a person sensitive to their needs, rather than an automated email response or aggressive salesperson.

If you own a business, you know that good customer service is your key to long term success. You may have the best product or service on the planet, but if you don’t provide good customer service, you won’t be in business long. Whether you own a large corporation, a small brick-and-mortar business or a web based business, you’re competing with thousands or millions of other vendors. Your diligent attention to service can make the difference between success and failure. Here are five examples of good customer service that spell success for your business.

One example of good customer service that demonstrates personal attention: you sell widgets, as do many other businesses. A customer walks into your shop or visits your website. That customer needs just two widgets. Instead of ignoring that customer because you figure the profit is minimal, you court that customer and try to fulfill the request. That satisfied customer may know someone who’s looking for a thousand widgets and recommend you.

Practicing principles of good customer service does good things for your bottom line.

You never know what a customer query might net your bottom line. A prompt response to a query might make the difference between a profit or loss for your business. Queries offer you an opportunity to demonstrate examples of good customer service that pay you big time. That seemingly insignificant question on your product or service may just open the door to a big sale. You never know. That query may be made by someone who’s in a hurry to purchase and is looking for a vendor that responds promptly.

Your potential customers are looking for solutions to their problem. Don’t ever discount that. Whether it’s you or your staff who’s handling sales, emphasize the solutions you have to offer. After all, that’s what you’re selling. Solutions lead to sales.

Going the extra mile characterizes the business person with demonstrable examples of good customer service. Never regard a potential customer as an annoyance. You know everything about your business, but don’t assume your customers do. Taking a few minutes to make your customer feel that you care about their particular situation often results in a sale.

Perhaps one of the best examples of good customer service is so subtle, but eminently effective. When a customer approaches you about your product or service, make it a priority to educate them. They may be vaguely aware that they need what you’re selling, but don’t know enough to justify a purchase. Educate them. You’re the expert.
